SL Samhain Festival Literary Events: Mon Oct 31

The final day of events brings this wonderful month long celebration to its end - but the new year dawns, full of hope and wonderful possibilities.

5pm Kaikilani - Storytelling and Chanting

6pm - Remembrance & Renewal

A reading of poetry by those who have passed into the next life. With poems of both famous poets of the past and SL poets who have joined them, this promises to be an event to remember. Come share your favorite poems from passed poets. We also welcome comments you may like to make about the poet you would like to remember or any story you would like to share about what has made them special in your life. We list no ending time for this event but would appreciate you leaving a comment on this blog post to add your name to the list of readers.

Welcome to the Samhain Festival

The Samhain Festival in SL is a month-long celebrations created and sponsored by Fox Ravenheart and runs from October 3rd through October 31st. This blog is for the literary events to be held at that festival and contains information about those events and its participants. I am Serene Bechir in SL and look forward to seeing you all at the Samhain Festival!

Literary events will be held throughout the festival weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays and also Thur Oct 13 and Sun Oct 21.

Monday events are called Duos and are one hour presentations by either a single person or two people. Each hour will include two components, either two performers or a mix of poetry, prose, storytelling, music or art.

Wednesday events are poetry open mic events called Poetry Circle. Each session will have a host and a featured poet. The featured poet will read at least fifteen minutes but the exact length of their read and the format of each session is determined by the host and featured poet. Everyone is invited to come share poetry in these sessions but please be mindful that this is a PG sim and select your material accordingly.

Thur Oct 13th and Sun Oct 21st are special presentations of Duos with DJ and story teller Fox Ravenheart presenting a mix of seasonal music and stories.

The theme of the event is renewal, the release our regrets and losses in the past and looking forward to a brighter future. Readers are encouraged to keep this theme in mind but are not restricted in any way to those topics. Above all else, this is a time of sharing.
